Wilhelm Carl August Zimmer

German artist Wilhelm Carl August Zimmer was a painter of landscapes and genre pieces, mostly painted in the surroundings of Thuringia, a state in Germany. He was born in the Thuringia city of Apolda, on April 16th, 1853. He was an apprentice at the Großherzogliche Sächsische Kunstschule in Weimar, where he was taught by Theodor Hagen (1842-1919) and would later become teacher himself; from 1883 until 1885 he was professor of genre painting. In February 2005 an exhibition with paintings of Wilhelm Zimmer took place in the German city of Eisenach.
