biography

Henri Pailler was born in 1876 in Poitiers, about 300 kilometers southwest of Paris, and was a painter. He was an apprentice at the Académie des Beaux-Arts, where he received painting lessons by Léon Bonnat (1833-1922). Pailler was not the only talented student Bonnat taught. Raoul Dufy, Georges Braque and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec were also pupils of this academic painter. Pailler devoted himself mainly to townviews and ladscapes, but also painted nudes and still lifes. He passed away in 1954 at the age of 78.
